The T-Mobile G2 is a version of the HTC Desire Z that was built specifically for the U.S. market. It features the same base specs and hardware design, but offers a different software load and user interface tweaks.
The G2 is a very good all-around phone. It is great for messaging, thanks to its keyboard and large display, does well on the web with its Flash support, and has access to over 100,000 apps on the Android market. And did I mention the T-Mobile G2's awe inspiring HSPA+(INFO) data speeds?
But the camera is lack luster, and the phone just doesn't feel as snappy as its 1GHz empowered competitors. Sure the 800MHz Snapdragon CPU in the G2 is a second generation design, but that doesn't seem to be enough to make up for the 20% speed shortfall, though it does seem to help with power consumption.
It's a very good phone, it just isn't the best out there when it comes to many tasks.
