blackberry storm 9550

We've already had plenty of up close and personal looks at the Storm 2 - much to the dismay of RIM as they promptly requested images and video to be pulled. But that is neither here nor there at this time. We know it exists, we know it will eventually hit carriers and now we are just that much closer to a possible release date month.

The good folks over at The BlackBerry Zone have posted that Vodafone UK is set to release the Storm 2 (9520) in October while Verizon is still on for a Storm 2 (9550) release in November. Now this month has actually been tossed around for a few devices, especially the Onyx. So we here at CrackBerry will still leave this one stuck under the "rumor" category, just for safety sake. Stay tuned as more information is developing. So what do you think? Is November going to be the month or will RIM delay it beyond that?

Apple Starts Refunding iPhone 4 Customers For Bumper Cases

It is being reported that Apple have begun refunding iPhone 4 users the cost of bumper cases and going forward, will give them away free of charge to future iPhone 4 customers.
For what seems like weeks now Apple have been bombarded with complaints relating to the death grip, which refers to the loss of signal when holding the phone a certain way, thus the bumper case.
When the iPhone 4 is in the bumper case the antenna is not compromised, no matter how the phone is held which means that the phone works properly, like it is supposed too.
The cases in question cost $29, and those who have already purchased one will be getting a refund, probably to their iTunes account.
Apple estimate that more than 3.5 million iPhone 4 handsets have been sold so far since they launched the new model.

HTC Bravo

With the Mobile World Congress just a few short weeks away, many people are already speculating about what little surprises mobile phone manufacturers will be unleashing on the showroom floor. For HTC, the most solid device they have that everyone is focusing on is the HTC Bravo.

The HTC Bravo first popped up when HTC’s 2010 roadmap got leaked. The roadmap contained 5 Android smart phones and 3 Windows Mobile devices, of these, only the Bravo has been confirmed to be in production. The roadmap was quickly forgotten when December rolled over and everyone got excited about the coming Google phone –especially when it was revealed that HTC would be working on the Nexus One.

It came to no surprise that many people thought that the Bravo is the Google phone itself -considering the fact that the hardware specs for both the Bravo and the Nexus One are so similar. It was not until January did news that the Bravo and the Nexus One were two separate devices and both were going to be launched this year. Google pushed through with the launch of their Android phone early this January and HTC has announced that the Bravo is expected to launch this March.

Should HTC decide to unveil this device on February at the MWC in Barcelona, Spain, it will be one of the first Android smart phones to be released after the Google phone. Considering that not many people opted to get the Google phone, the Bravo just might be the Android device people are waiting for.

Specs wise, the Bravo comes with similar specs to the Nexus One; both devices have Snapdragon Android processors, 3.7 inch AMOLED touch screens and 5 mega pixel cameras. The Bravo does have a little extra -720p HD video recording.

Samsung Moment 2

The news of Samsung Moment 2 release is knocking at the door with many rumors along with one leaked picture which doesn’t show much difference from its predecessor Samsung Moment. Samsung Moment 2, which technically called SPH-M910, will be launched by Sprint. So before Sprint brings HTC Evo 4G for sale, Samsung Moment 2 will be out before that. But rumor says Samsung will not be upgrading its outlook from its original Samsung Moment, leaving the option that we will be able to see a lot of technical specification upgrades than the M900, Samsung Moment.

Unlike its brethren Samsung Moment, the Samsung Moment 2 will come bundled with Android version 2.1 along with its enhanced User Interface the TouchWiz 3.0 version which will give ease of use & excellent menu navigation. The old Samsung Moment has quite backdated software; it runs with Android version 1.5 which was scheduled to be upgraded to Android version 2.0. So for now Samsung Moment 2 will be launching with world’s most advanced operating system combined with a great user interface named TouchWiz version 3.0.

Samsung Moment 2 will be lacking some features of a next generation mobile phone, as rumored. It may not have the Super AMOLED display which we have seen in some of its predecessors. So there will be chance of lacking visibility of the mobile screen in broad day light or bright sunshine. This is one of its advantages which will affect any user while deciding to buy the Samsung Moment 2. HTC Evo 4G will win the race by some leaps in comparison with Samsung Moment 2, due to this reason alone, as its quite annoying to get the screen unreadable in direct sunlight. It also appears as if the Moment 2 is not going to be sporting a 1GHz processor and WiMax.

The outlook of the leaked picture of Samsung Moment 2 doesn’t look much different than Moment original, except a few changes like bigger QWERTY keypad, which will make it easier while texting or typing. Samsung also made some changes in its QWERTY keypad changed the position of the keys for better functionality and easier use. Samsung Moment 2 will have a search button on the front, below its screen, extra than the first Samsung Moment and its look it more edge cut type, giving better handling experience. The Samsung Moment 2 does look more robust and well built than its predecessor, the Samsung Moment M900.

While everybody is waiting for Samsung Moment 2 as it will launch before HTC Evo 4G from Sprint, there in so official announcement about its release date or technical specifications and price. Although it is being compared with HTC Evo 4G for coming from same Sprint and having same operating system, Android version 2.1, the lack of AMOLED display and WiMax may take serious role in users mind while deciding to chose from this two. However, Samsung Moment may have a few surprises inside it making the deciding factor for buying it in the long run.

HTC Incredible

The HTC Incredible is supposed to be the secret next super Android phone from Verizon. Secrets in the smartphone biz are hard to keep mainly because people take photos of the new smartphones then send them to reviewers and bloggers, who see their value and then post them on the Internet.

Recently, it has been suggested that the HTC Incredible may be incredible and launch from Verizon in the next two weeks. In the CTIA Wireless E-Tech Awards winners there is an "embargoed" HTC product, as well as an exhibitor listing stating that HTC will announce a new product.

Here are the specs we've been able to round up for your review.

The HTC Incredible has similar specs to the Nexus One with a slight size difference, except the HTC Incredible has an 8 megapixel camera (Nexus One has 5 MP.) The Nexus One has a trackball and the HTC Incredible has a trackpad. The Incredible has been seen to also come in bright red with a molded shaped back, while the Nexus One is silver Teflon color with a smooth back.

The HTC Incredible has 512 MB ROM, 512 MB RAM (320 free to the user) memory, and 3.7″ WVGA (800×480) AMOLED touchscreen both the same specs as the Nexus One.

The HTC Incredible will run Android 2.1 with HTC's Sense UI giving it voice to text filling of all text fields, turn-turn navigataion, sentient wallpaper, pinch-to-zoom with your fingers in the browser, Gallery, and Google Maps as well as a new 3D photo gallery. There is also the Google Maps update synchronized desktop maps.google.com and memorized locations with a new night mode.

It will supposedly appear at the CTIA next week in Las Vegas, we'll be sure to look for it. The HTC Incredible is more powerful than the Droid by Motorola that will updated to Android 2.1 soon. The Nexus One received good reviews is now available for AT&T and will be available for Sprint. Voice transcriptions on the the Nexus One removes swear words. Web banner ads contend that the Nexus One wallpaper has sentience.

The HTC Incredible has a 1300mAH battery, FM Tuner (which Nexus does not) Wi-Fi and a snappy 1Ghz Snapdragon processor, underclocked to 768Mhz to save battery life. We also suspect that it will have GPS, an acclerometer, and Bluetooh.

BlackBerry Onyx

Our sources called and let us in on the news that RIM has the BlackBerry Onyx in testing. The Onyx is the 3G version of the already released Curve 8900.

From what we hear RIM is gearing up their 3G testing and the Onyx has already been placed with carriers for testing. Beyond the addition of 3G support, we hear whispers of a keyboard revision that is more like the 9630 Tour keyboard that is also part of the Onyx design.

While we don’t yet know all of the specifics, we suspect that we will hear more soon once the Onyx gets a little more testing and development under its belt. It could be that we might see the Onyx before the end of the year, depending on how the initial field trials with the carriers go.

Blackberry Tour

One of the most common apprehensions about business phones is the fact that they are just too monotonous. Most business phones are purely meant for work, minus the pleasure and this is something that really sucks the fun out of the whole process of owning a high end phone. The new Blackberry Tour, however, endeavors to change all of it- with solid business phone basics and a whole lot of full filled features, this phone strives to combine work and pleasure. RIM has done an exceptional job in creating some out of the box business features.

Blackberry Tour includes features that allow you to connect to friends via various social networks- on the go. Besides, the phone has a great multimedia interface, exceptional sound quality and one of the best audio/video players to have been featured on a smartphone- ever!

This Blackberry boasts one of the best screens to have been featured in the Blackberry series and is great for social networking/multimedia apps. On the flipside, the Blackberry Tour does have some cons to it as well- The keyboard is average, the call quality isn’t great and the web browser could have been better. On the whole, the tech specs of the Blackberry Tour are pretty upright and all through the remainder of this write up, we look at some of the best features to have been showcased in the new Blackberry Tour.

Calling and general features

Talking about the most basic function that any phone is required to perform- the calling features of the phone are exceptional. The call quality needs a bit of revamping on the part of RIM, but this Blackberry is jam-packed with off-the-hook calling features. The battery life is pretty good and Blackberry boasts of a 5 hour talk-time with a fully recharged battery. This might sound low for a smartphone, but with all the multimedia features in place, 3G technologies on the anvil and a great web browser, this kind of battery life is acceptable.

The Tour has some exceptional features for handling the address book and synchronizing it with corporate accounts (if your service provider makes use of the BES or Blackberry Enterprise Server). You can also get en-sync with your calendar and contacts using the inbuilt Outlook, which comes as a standard desktop application with the Blackberry Tour. You can, in fact, get your hands on your friend’s contact details using their FB profiles. The Blackberry Tour makes it as easy as counting “123”! If your friends do not have their contact numbers listed on their FB accounts, your Blackberry is capable of sending them messages- soliciting their contact info. Great, isn’t it?

Design and our verdict

One area where the Blackberry Tour stands out from the rest of the crowd is its design- it looks chic and inviting for a smartphone. With a glossy finish, a good grip and a funky texture, the Blackberry Tour aims to lend an all new dimension to this mundane and perceptibly boring segment. The 3.2 Mega Pixels camera that comes with the phone makes it a winner. The camera is capable of taking marvelous pics. IN fact, the exceptional picture quality of Blackberry Tour’s camera makes it a much more fun-filled smartphone- something that’s been the USP of this product right from the days it was launched.

IN all, the Blackberry tour is a great smartphone and a must have for those looking to digress from the stereotypical norms of the business world. The Blackberry Tour is a rebel in a nutshell- a great screen, good social networking tools and the standard Blackberry business tools make it a clear cut winner; considering the $200 price tag it is being marketed at!!!

Nokia C6

Nokia C6 entry-level touchscreen slider phone, going below the N97 mini with which it shares styling cues. According to a leak, it will retain a touchscreen and a hidden hardware QWERTY keyboard. The trackpad that is present on the full-size N97 would be back on the C6.

An additional and potentially more noticeable difference would be a more conventional sliding action: it wouldn't angle the phone up towards the user like it does on the N97 and N97 mini. The C6 should have just 256MB of onboard storage, though a microSD slot would let users expand it.

Pricing and release dates for the C6 haven't been made public, though the device is expected to launch in Europe this summer. A North American release is likely shortly thereafter

HTC HD Mini Review

The HTC HD mini sports a high degree of usability along with its own unique and gorgeous design. Precision fasteners used to assemble the phone are externally visible, showing a high level of craftsmanship rarely found in mobile phones. And the strong design ethos continues under the battery cover where a bright yellow internal structure, offers an unexpected surprise when the phone is opened.

The HTC HD mini utilizes HTC Sense, a user experience focused on putting people at the centre by making the phone work in a more simple and natural way. This experience revolves around three fundamental principles that were developed by observing and listening to how people live and communicate. These core tenets of Make It Mine, Stay Close and Learn the Unexpected continue to be the key to the new HTC Sense experience.

Like the HTC HD2, the HTC HD mini continues the same focus on people-centric communication with complete Outlook integration. It helps you stay close to the vital friends and colleagues in your life by providing a single contact view that displays individual communication snapshots of your conversations, regardless of whether it was a call, text, status update or email. HTC’s Windows-based Twitter application, HTC Peep, enables you to tweet and follow your twitter stream.

HTC HD mini includes capacitive touch for viewing, zooming and resizing websites, Microsoft® Office files, PDF documents and pictures with just a pinch of your fingers.
